Interpreting is the oral translation of one language to another. Our interpreters can translate anything from international conferences to neighbourhood community gatherings. At Matiz, we advise you on the best type of interpreting service for your event.

Consecutive interpreting is where the interpreter takes notes of each statement and at the end, or at an appropriate interval, accurately relays what is said in the required language.

With simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter translates the speaker’s words for the listeners in real time. Special sound equipment is normally used which include soundproof booths for the interpreters and a set of headphones for each listener.

Whispered interpreting or ‘chuchotage’ is a type of simultaneous interpreting whereby the interpreter whispers what is being said into the recipient’s ear whilst the speaker is talking. Chuchotage is very useful for visits to factories or facilities and for face-to-face product demonstrations.

Bilateral interpreting is the ideal solution for those sensitive negotiations and meetings where significant amounts of information is exchanged. After each statement, a Matiz interpreter will translate what one party says into the language of the other, and vice versa.

This is used for telephone conversations which involve two languages. A Matiz interpreter will translate, after each individual statement, what one party says to the other in the recipient’s own language, and vice versa.
